Become a personal chef

Liaison College in Kitchener offers an education that can lead to many different career paths in the culinary arts. One of those paths, becoming a personal chef, provides you with an opportunity to work for yourself. As a personal chef, you can set your own flexible hours while still making the most of your training and passion for food.

Chef Nicole Puffer is a former student of Liaison College and currently owns a business as a personal chef. In 2011, Nicole began her education at Liaison College. As the mother of a child with health challenges, she spent plenty of time cooking from scratch to help monitor what he was eating and this led to an interest in cooking that Nicole decided to turn into a career.

Liaison College was a great match for Nicole as they understood her busy life outside of school and ensured that she was still available for her children when required. Nicole was pleased with the endless opportunities Liaison College brought her. The amount of hands on experience and the opportunity to work with different chefs taught Nicole so much. She was able to volunteer for more experience and the dedication of the instructors was a valuable part of training.

Once Nicole graduated, the support of Liaison College continued. They helped Nicole when she started her own business and were a part of her decision making along the way. They have continued to give her access to their vast resources and the relationships she built have helped her in many ways.

As a personal chef, Nicole cooks for the elderly. She works with her clients to create a meal plan that is wholesome and healthy and suits their dietary needs. Once the plan is created, Nicole will shop for the food and prepare the meals, packaging them to be eaten at later dates. Nicole is also a licenced caterer and can come to your home to cater events such as dinner parties. Nicole credits her education and training at Liaison College for providing her with the support she needed to start her own business.
