Chamber of Commerce Regional Trade Show

On Tuesday September 21 the regional Chamber of Commerce show was held at Bingeman Park Conference Centre. More than 1,000 members and guests enjoyed the lively displays of services, products and fare presented by hundreds of vendors.

Liaison College shared its passion for good food by providing hungry guests with a sample of traditional comfort food: authentic pierogies!

As people toured the aisles, the unmistakable aroma of onions sauteeing in butter wafted through the air and led them to the station where Beata Ohl (Liaison College graduate and fledgling business owner) tempted palates with her homemade treats. The feedback was tremendous and Beata will soon be flooded with orders since she specializes in traditional Polish cuisine and baking. Some of her specialties are: pierogies, borscht (authentic beet soup) and cabbage rolls. Her cakes and pastries are divine, too. To place an order call: 519-895-2037

Helping Beata at the booth was Julie S an Advanced Level student at Liaison College.

Taste Local Taste Fresh 2010 a Huge Success

Taste Local Taste Fresh Event

On Sunday Sept 19, over 500 visitors took part in the annual Taste Local Taste Fresh event held in St. Jacobs. With over 20 vendors on site sharing their tasty food creations, visitors had a lot to choose from.

Liaison College was partnered with the Steckle Heritage Farm this year. The Farm’s manager, Kristen Buck, was more than generous with the farm’s yield and provided Liaison College with large, sweet onions (for caramelized onion chutney), bright red currants (for marmalade), rustic large potatoes (for delicious potatoe bread) and also buttercup squash (for a moist and spicy squash bread). The breads were spread with whipped butter and then topped with either chutney or marmalade. The result was overwhelmingly heavenly. Line ups at the station lasted all afternoon with excellent feedback.

Charity Golf Tournament

In June 2010 Kitchener Campus instructors played in a charity golf tournament for the benefit of Family and Children’s Services of Waterloo Region. Chefs Dave, Mike and Dean enjoyed a round of golf and dinner. Apparently Chef Mike can cook a whole lot better than he can golf …. a good time was had by everyone.
