Professional Development
At Liaison College Kitchener campus, we take your career seriously. Our programs are designed by professional chefs and experienced educational specialists. They are focused on teaching you the skills you need to succeed in the hospitality industry.
Small Classes
Our classes are small so that you receive the optimum in personalized instruction. You will work with professional chefs in commercial grade kitchens, learning tips and techniques that will be of benefit to you throughout your career, whether you work in or own a restaurant, cook on a cruise ship, manage a kitchen, or start your own personal chef business.
The opportunities in this expanding field are virtually unlimited.
What You Will Learn
Beyond teaching you basic and advanced culinary skills, we teach you how to design and prepare menus, manage a kitchen, and order, store and handle ingredients.
We develop and encourage team-work, so essential to a smooth-running kitchen.
Opportunities
We provide opportunities for Basic Cook students to cook for the public at events and for our luncheons. Students are encouraged to volunteer to assist at our recreational cooking classes to gain more experience.
Advanced Cook students are given the opportunity to prepare and organize one of our Lunch at Liasion lunches, where a meal is served to real customers who are given comment cards to provide feedback and help our cooks improve their cooking and presentation skills.
CAPS
Finally, through our CAPS program, we provide assistance in finding jobs. Our placement rate is over 90% with our students finding work in commercial restaurants around the world. We will help you develop a professional resume and interview skills. We also maintain a job board both on campus and at our head office website to help you start your career. Our commitment goes beyond your program. We provide life-long assistance to our graduates in finding work and in refreshing their skills so they stay on top of the industry.
When you graduate from Liaison College, you will have a diploma that is recognized, a food handlers safety certificate that many kitchens require, and the skills and training you need to look for and find a job that you love.
